Collection of remarkable epitaphs, [ca. 1730-1765].

Volume containing holograph copies of some English and Latin epitaphs and epigrams collected by Joseph Spence, including an epitaph for Robert Dodsley and a Latin epitaph for Jacob Tonson. Spence has classified many of these as "merry," "humorous," "serious," and "miscellaneous." The volume also contains a few later epitaphs in another hand.
